Daniel Bacellar returned to the University of Maryland in 2020, three and a half years after earning his PhD in mechanical engineering. During this time away, he worked as an engineering manager at Optimized Thermal Systems, Inc. where he was involved in HVAC R&D including modeling and optimization, software development, and heat exchanger / heat pump testing. In 2010 he received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic School of University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. For two years prior to his admission to Graduate School, he worked at FIGENER, LLC working with power generation, industrial processes, and refrigeration. He is also a member of ASHRAE.
