Alumni Varun Singh to Start New 'Post' at Facebook

Center for Environmental Engineering alumni, Dr. Varun Singh, will be joining the online social networking service, Facebook, as product manager starting Dec. 1 at the company's Menlo Park headquarters.

At Facebook, he will be building software products and applications that help achieve the company’s mission of giving people power to share information, and making the world more open and connected. "There's a lot of value to be built on top of the social graph by leveraging techniques like machine learning. So it will be an exciting job."

Singh, who until recently was Senior Vice President Product at fast-growing software start-up, Sefaira, graduated from University of Maryland with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 2009. Singh will continue to serve as adviser to the leadership at Sefaira.
