Veeresh Ayyagari joined CEEE in January 2021 in the AHXPI consortium group. Although new to CEEE, Ayyagari received a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from University of Maryland in 2019. Ayyagari has returned to pursue a Ph.D., which he expects to receive in 2023.
"Before coming to the UMD for master’s my plan was to explore the academic research environment. I worked with Prof. Jungho Kim on Water harvesters and I enjoyed the journey. Eventually, I decided to PhD is perfect next step in my career," Ayyagari said.
Prior to his studies at Maryland, Ayyagari received his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Surat in India in 2015.
Ayyagari chose to continue his research efforts with CEEE because he wanted to focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.
"I have had a longing to contribute to the sustainability of the planet through research and CEEE provides me with a platform exactly I wanted be on," he said. "My favorite part of CEEE are the consortium meetings because you get to showcase to your work to industry professionals and get a valuable feedback which comes from several perspectives and field experience."
In his free time, Ayyagari enjoys politics since living in the "cultural melting pot of the world."
