Title:
Quantum Tools to Explore the Universe
Abstract:
I will describe two high-risk approaches to two hard problems. High-resolution imaging of crystal defects may allow directional detection of WIMP dark matter below the neutrino floor. Milky Way accelerometry, using either precision radial velocity measurements of stars or millisecond pulsar timing, may enable a more direct, dynamical determination of the local dark matter density. If successful, the latter may inform the prospects for the former.
