Overview

TransREF is a flexible and user-friendly tool for transient simulation of vapor compression systems. Applications include refrigerators and automotive systems.

Key Features

The key features of TransREF include:

  • Component based transient simulation tool for refrigerators.
  • Component models can be changed on the fly.
  • User defined component models can be developed using the CEEE Component Standard and can be loaded into the program
  • Ability to model multi-evaporator cycles.
  • Includes detailed cabinet models for different refrigerator applications. Is being extended to automotive passenger cabins.
  • Calculates different state points and energy consumption at each time step. Provides pull-down time information.
  • Ability to add and test user defined control algorithms and change settings during transient simulation.
  • Inputs and outputs at each time step can be exported to a spreadsheet for further post-processing.

Availability

The full version of the TransREF software is currently available to ISOC members only.

For demonstration versions, please contact ISOC.

System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows® Operating System
  • Processor speed 1GHz or higher
  • RAM 256 MB minimum
  • Disk space 70 MB

Exhaustive Feature List

  • Simulates refrigerators and automotive air conditioners and is being constantly enhanced to accommodate other systems.
  • Variety of cycle configurations:
TransREF can simulated the basic four component system as well as systems with suction line heat exchanger and dual evaporators in series or parallel.
  • Fully component based:
Component based architecture allows the user to exchange components on the fly. In addition, the user can add his/her own component models in the program.
  • Control Algorithms:
TransREF has several built-in control algorithms. The user can also add his/her own control algorithms. This allows the user to build and test custom/proprietary control algorithms
  • Detailed Output Results:
The program gives detailed output results of the system state-points and stores these values at each time step. The user can also monitor the system on-screen.
  • Saving in portable data format :
The cycle configuration and all related data is saved in a portable data format, so that is can opened for later use and also for use in other system simulation tools.
